The Football - The success of the
Spanish national team won the
European Cup in 2012 gave additional impetus to their
juniors who will
compete in the Olympics. Spain
is now aiming for the gold medal in
London.
La Furia Roja had a new record. The success of Iker Casillas et al. won the European Cup in 2012 making Spain the first team capable of winning three titles in major tournaments in a row.
That success was apparently the inspiration for Iker Muniain and David De Gea that will strengthen Spain in the Olympics. Both are hoping to complete the Spanish success with a gold medal at the Olympics.
"It would be nice to win the competition after what they achieved. We will start the adventure in which we are very motivated to finish with a medal," he said as quoted Yahoosports Muniain.
If you won a gold medal, then Spain will be the fourth team who went on to become champions in the World Cup and the Olympics in a row after Uruguay, Italy and West Germany. Spain last won gold in the branches of football in the 1992 Olympics.
"We're young and we'll be through competition with the same motivation to them," added De Gea.
"They achieved something historic and there are a lot of expectations for us. But this will not be easy as imagined."
"There are a lot of games, so we have to mejalaninya one by one, to see how strong our rivals and hoping to enter into the final," Manchester United goalkeeper's cap.
