The Football - David Beckham can be a big honor after being named the 2012 Olympics flame ignition. Feeling much more worthy athletes, former Manchester United star has now asked for his name crossed out alone.

When the 2012 Olympic Games officially opened on 27 July, Beckham has been appointed as the ignition flame to the cauldron that had been prepared. That's so great honor for Becks, because throughout the history of the Olympic flame ignition is the legend of the sport.

Beckham himself did not give any achievement in English football team, in addition to being the captain for some time.

"I always say, lit the Olympic torch at the stadium should be done by Olympic athletes ... who have done extraordinary things for our country and won the gold medal," said Beckham told reporters in Los Angeles.

Some media said that Beckham had actually another reason behind his desire withdrew from the Olympic torch ignition. All because he was not the entry of Great Britain squad for the 2012 Olympics this.

"Everyone knows how proud I am representing my own country and can do that in my own home (UK) in a very large event adds incredible. I'm disappointed, but life goes on," added Beckham on Reuters.
