The Football - Chris Smalling has dashed hopes for appearances for England at Euro 2012. Manchester United defender to strengthen it suffered a serious groin injury.

The absence of the Polish-Ukrainian Smalling has been confirmed by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told a news conference Friday (05/11/2012) afternoon local time, which quoted from Sky Sports.

"Chris suffered a severe injury," said Ferguson. "It was a groin muscle injury and will miss the European championships."

"We're checking to determine what will be done but it is a bad."

Smalling get injured while defending the 'Red Devils' in a 2-0 win over Swansea City at Old Traffod, last weekend.

Since digaet from Fulham two seasons ago, Smalling showed relatively satisfactory game. The 22-year-old boy was then a call to strengthen the squad 'Three Lions'.

Smalling is believed to be selected in the list of 23 players who will compete in the European Cup in the announcement to be made on 16 May. But now the dream Smalling to carry out his debut in an international tournament had dispersed.

Better fortune earned by Danny Welbeck. Welbeck still have a chance to play although it will miss the final match in the Premier League Manchester United with an ankle injury.

"He was pulled over for now but he will be fit for the European Cup," said Fergie.
